Stealing a garbage can

Where I live we have city-provided garbage cans. The BIG kind that are collected by the robo-arm on the garbage truck. Why would someone steal a garbage can? I found out today.

I went outside to check the mail. Today was garbage pick-up day and I had put the can on the curb like usual. When I went outside to look in the mailbox, our can was gone from the curb. The cans of both my neighbor's were still on the curb. Odd........ then I saw my North neighbor and a local hobo digging into "their" garbage can. Theirs can was still on the curb.

No bother, I'll just take theirs and all will be back into place.

When I started to move the can I noticed it smelled. Badly. Being the soul I am I had to investigate the smell, and I found out why they took my can and left theirs behind.

Maggots. Probally over a thousand maggots were squirming their way around inside the can.

After I pushed my lunch back down into my stomach, down I used the garden hose to spray the inside of the can. Then I dumped the maggot-ridden water in the alley.

Gross.

(No I did not take any photos)
